C is for COMPASSION

I signed the Charter for Compassion last year.  I was so inspired by Karen Armstrong’s TED Talk on Compassion and the Golden Rule, I felt compelled to join the cause. The Charter urges people across the globe to embrace Compassion as a core value.

The ethos, that we should treat others as we would wish to be treated, “The Golden Rule”,  is at the heart of all the great world traditions.  The Charter for Compassion is a movement to reconnect people around the globe to create a more peaceful world. I encourage you to read it. You can find it by clicking  here.

And, for today, and every day if you can, perform a random act of kindness. Do so with good intention and without expectation of acknowledgment. Be a light in the world.

Let me leave you today with, in my opinion, the best definition of religion from the great Dalai Lama, “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”

  1. I always try to treat people the way I want my special needs child to be treated, cause let’s be honest… I’m not always very nice to myself and I don’t think people should treat each other like I treat me.
